VAST-logoYou may not know Salisbury Township created its own cyber school for the 2012-13 school year, the Virtual Academy of Salisbury Township (VAST).  Fourteen students are currently enrolled in VAST. One elementary student, two middle school students, and eleven high school students are completing courses online through VAST. VAST students are provided with a laptop and necessary equipment to complete their courses online.

VAST students are provided with a laptop and necessary equipment to complete their courses online.  Students have the opportunity to access services which are available in our brick and mortar schools such as counseling, IEP, and GIEP support.  VAST students are eligible to earn a Salisbury Township School District diploma and participate in graduation.

As a result of recruiting and retaining these students the district experienced a tuition cost avoidance of approximately $100,000.  Salisbury Township School District is required to pay tuition for students who attend other cyber schools.  The district will try to recruit Salisbury students who are enrolled in other cyber schools for the 2013-14 school year.  If you have know a Salisbury Township School District resident who is participating in another school’s cyber program, please encourage them to contact Mrs. Fuini-Hetten (610-797-2062 or lfuinihetten@stsd.org) or contact a school counselor.  We would appreciate the opportunity to talk with the student about VAST and the benefits of attending our STSD cyber school.
