Job role in STSD: 9th Grade English

Building assignment: Salisbury High School

Previous work experience: I spent this past year at TECH Freire Charter High School in North Philadelphia, teaching 9th grade students. Previously, I observed and student taught at a number of schools around the Lehigh Valley, including Raub Middle School, Dieruff High School, Newcomer Academy, Emmaus High School, and Saucon Valley High School.

Educational background: I grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, and stayed there until it was time to attend college. I chose a school in Pennsylvania and I’ve been here ever since! I went to college here in the Lehigh Valley, and graduated from DeSales University with a BA in Theatre, a minor in English, as well as a teaching certification in English. I enjoy using my background in performance to engage students in the books we read in English class!

No. of years in education: I have spent one year teaching professionally, and 4 years observing and student teaching in the education field.

How do you “sharpen the saw?” (Personal activities and/or hobbies) In my free time, I really enjoy reading classic novels, and binge-watching my favorite TV shows. I also enjoy attending live theatre performances, trying exciting, different foods at local restaurants, and traveling, both inside and outside the United States. Spending time with friends and family is my favorite way to relax and rejuvenate.

Other interesting facts: I come from a large family, and have five siblings! We range from ages 26 to 13, and love spending time together. I also had the chance during college to live in Limerick, Ireland for 6 months. During that time, I visited over 15 countries all over Europe, including Spain, Italy, Prague and the Czech Republic.

Job role in STSD: Social Studies teacher and gifted advisor

Building assignment: Salisbury High School

Previous work experience: After graduating from college, I spent a year substituting several districts in the area including Salisbury. After that, I served as an instructional assistant working with ESL students at Southern Lehigh High School. Last year I taught 11th grade American literature at Lincoln Leadership Academy in Allentown.

Educational background: I graduated from Gettysburg College in 2014 with a major in Political Science and minors in Secondary Education and French

No. of years in education: This will be my second year as a full time teacher; however, I worked in schools for two years before that.

How do you “sharpen the saw?” (Personal activities and/or hobbies) Some things that I enjoy doing in my free time are reading and cooking. I also like to go camping and spend as much time outside as possible, especially in the summer.

Other interesting facts: I have two dogs. One is a 4 year old, black lab/pitbull mix named Bella. The other is a one year old, yellow lab named Lola.
