Name: Melissa Holland

Graduation Year: 1999

Description of your current occupation: Instructional Assistant at WSE in learning support K-3

What did a Salisbury education mean to you? Salisbury taught me to be an independent learner and leader. I decided to be an educator because I had such great examples at Salisbury! As a Falcon, we support one another and continue to grow into contributing citizens of our communities. I am so happy to be back at the school that has made me who I am today!

What do you remember about a favorite staff member? I never had Mr. Yelenko as an English teacher, but I remember every day he would copy the word puzzles out of The Morning Call and hand them out during homeroom to anyone who was interested. I would complete the cryptoquotes during my free time and I still love doing them today!

What memorable learning experience do you remember? My fondest learning experience was the 6th grade outdoor science program. It was so much fun to explore all the area has to offer, right in our backyard. We were able to see how each subject could be applied to an environment outside the classroom. I continue to love
the outdoors and still remember some of the experiences as I walk through the Parkway today!
