2015-16 New Staff Feature – November 1

This school year we welcomed many new staff members. Throughout the  year, we’d like to introduce these new staff members to the Salisbury community through a series of blog posts. Please welcome Alyson Saxman, Katherine Yaglowski and Kaitlin Paglione!

saxmanAlyson Saxman

Job role in STSD: Long Term Substitute Teacher in Kindergarten

Building assignment: Harry S. Truman Elementary

Previous work experience: I have been a substitute teacher in both Salisbury and East Penn School districts for the past 5 years.  I have been a long term substitute in both 5th grade and 3rd grade and am looking forward to my time in kindergarten

Educational background: I graduated from Penn State University in 2009 with my elementary (K-6) certification.  I am hoping to eventually go back and receive my masters degree as well.

No. of years in education: 5

How do you “sharpen the saw”? I enjoy spending time with my family, especially watching the Eagles, working out, reading, and shopping.

Other interesting facts you’d like to share: I was a graduate of Salisbury High School.  I just recently got married in May. On our honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, we went ziplining which was awesome!  I also work part time at Bon Ton in the shoe department.


Katherine Yaglowski

Job role in STSD: Instructional Assistant

Building assignment: Harry S. Truman Elementary

Previous work experience: data entry and customer service at Historic Bethlehem Partnership offices and visitor center, customer service representative for Aetna US Healthcare, Retail Sales Associate with Dan’s Camera City

Educational background: BA in photography/electronic art from Lycoming College

No. of years in education: 1 year

How do you “sharpen the saw”? I love cooking for my family and watching movies.

Other interesting facts you’d like to share: I love singing and acting. I would love to audition for the Bach Choir of Bethlehem

Job role in STSD: One on One Instructional Assistant

Building assignment: Harry S. Truman Elementary School

Previous work experience: After graduating from PSU (WE ARE!!!) I worked as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher in the Chester County and Philadelphia School Districts. I then became a substitute in Salisbury for the 2013-14 school year.

 Educational background: I received my diploma from Parkland H.S in 2005 and graduated from Penn State University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Art Education.

 No. of years in education: 6

How do you “sharpen the saw”? I love reading, hiking and camping, practice yoga, explore art museums, play piano and guitar, try yummy foods (Thai and Ethiopian are my favorites), love Sudoku and crossword puzzles, spend time with my friends, and make art whenever I can — painting, drawing, and pottery.

Other interesting facts you’d like to share: I’m fluent in Spanish and currently learning French and Italian. When I lived in Philadelphia I rescued a stray kitten- her name is Sadie and she’s a sweetheart!
